Distinguishing The Cockroach Varieties
Roaches are ordinarily harmless insects. They can be found all over the planet, but not in hostile environments. Currently, there are over four thousand species of cockroaches already identified, and 3 of these varieties are responsible for making human existence miserable because these 3 species refer to live where there are humans.
Identifying these roaches could be the first step in iradication and control. It is quite easy & can aid in extermination methods. Here are the 3 major types of cockroaches.
American Cockroach
The American cockroach can grow up to 25mm in length. It has a reddish brown color & single stripe on the head. These roaches get easily attracted to liquor and can often be found in pubs or at home in case you had a party and didn’t clean up promptly. They have a life span of up to 1 and half years. Their incubation period is from 6 to 8 weeks.
German Cockroach
These kinds of cockroach boast of a tan or brownish color, and 2 lighter stripes on the back of its head. They can grow up to lengths of 15mm. It is probably the fastest breeding in comparison to its cousins, giving birth to around 30 to 40 nymphs with an incubation period of 30 days. That is relatively fast, seeing one of them can multiply to 30,000 in a year’s time. These can live for around six months.
Oriental Cockroach
The Oriental cockroach is probably the biggest of these 3. It grows around 25mm in length. They are a dark brown or black color with a shiny body & move more slowly than the other species. They are sometimes known as the water bug considering that these creatures prefer damp, dark areas. These roaches are commonly found in damp mulch or cellars. The duration of incubation could be about two months with an average of 15 eggs hatching &; they can each live for up to two years.
